Ouseburn, Newcastle has again been named one of the ‘Coolest Neighbourhoods’ in the UK by Time Out magazine. Held back over many years by vacant sites, Ouseburn has quickly become Newcastle’s cultural quarter with a thriving art scene, independent shops and nightlife.

Part of the charm of the area is Ouseburn Valley, a new neighbourhood of over 300 homes and 20,000 sq ft of commercial space delivered as part of a joint venture between Newcastle City Council, Homes England and PfP igloo.

The riverside development consists of five phases: The Mailings, Steenberg’s Yard, Malmo Quay and Spillers Quay, Glasshouses and Maling Street, and is harnessed by PfP igloo’s drive to deliver vibrant residential neighbourhoods that support economic and social benefit.

Ouseburn was previously recognised as one of the ‘Best Places to live in the UK’ in 2019 by The Sunday Times which referred to the riverside districts as ‘funky, family-friendly industrial chic’.

John Tatham from PfP igloo, said: “We strive to bring unique residential developments to areas that have previously been overlooked and bring them back to life. To have these vibrant neighbourhoods recognised and appreciated by such a well-known publication is always welcome.”
